The first truly comprehensive insider's guide for foreign residents The website is under beta testing.
This workshop is for teens and young adults who are interested in learning how to tell better stories through their images. Photography is so much more than snapping a picture. What message are you trying to convey? What are you expressing? What do you see through your lens that you want an audience to understand? After this five-session workshop, you will be better storytellers as well as more proficient photographers.
SESSION #1: Understanding Basics of Photography & Intro to Visual Journalism
We’ll go over exposure/lighting/composition, and see what level of understanding everyone has with their cameras and using them. We’ll also go into what storytelling is and how to create a series. We’ll review journalistic techniques and some of the most famous visual journalists and their work.
SESSION #2: In the Field
Taking it to the streets! We’ll go in the surrounding neighborhoods and streets to start practicing shooting outdoors and being in a natural environment among people and daily life.
SESSION #3: Dissecting, Editing, and Reviewing
This session will be going over each student’s work. We’ll review what they were trying to express and what their story was while offering constructive criticism.
SESSION #4: In the Field
Back in the field. We’ll continue with a hands-on session full of photographing and building the students' confidence in creating a series.
SESSION #5: Final Review and Recap
The last session will start off as a final review of the students’ latest works and finish with a recap of the entire workshop.
Participants need to have access to a camera (not a phone camera). Please reach out to Co-Space for more details regarding this.
